Dr.Junjiro Nishimoto, the founder of Yasuura Hospital, has set up a symbolic statue of Pinaire(Philippe Pinel, 4/20/1745-10/25/1826) trying to liberate the slavic mentally handicapped children at his Yasuura Hospital and the former Institute of Educational Medicine in Hiroshima. People with disabilities have also practiced the hope that their dignity as a human being is maintained. The bulletin ¡ÈNoro¡É is written down how the medical workers at Yasuura Hospital who have actually trained patients at Yasuura Hospital have understood and practiced them throughout the four seasons. I'm going to pick up their will and introduce it from the first issue. At the beginning of the memorable Noro's first issue, Junjiro Nishimoto contributed the following.
The characteristic of Yasuura Hospital in the east of Noro National Park is a beautiful natural environment.
Yasuura Hospital, located in the east of Noro National Park, is characterized by its beautiful natural environment. It is also the best conditions for housing and treating the mentally and brain-disabled. "Beautiful nature and beautiful humanity" is what I want most. It is a request close to my prayer to cultivate an "obedient and sound mind."From early on, I had hoped that literary works would be created to improve the cooperative activities and mutual understanding that are currently being carried out in the hospital. I am overwhelmed with joy. Whether or not it deserves the name of literary art, or whether it was born in the mountains of Noro, or what it will be, the very act of making it shows a part of humanity. It is my sincere hope that the mood among the staff members and the activities of the staff clubs will be harmoniously integrated with the natural environment. In addition, I mention that we should not forget the words of our predecessors "Humans are thinking reeds." ,and also that I prevent you to think "thinking is troublesome" during busy hospital life.
Of course,I will pay tribute to those who worked hard on the eve of Christmas using their leisure time from busy work.
Tonight, as the 37th year of the Showa Era (1962) is getting dark, I will have a pleasant party with my brothers and sisters. (Director Junjiro Nishimoto on the occasion of the publication of the first issue "Noro")
